Welcome to the website of the Vineyard Church in Lawrence. We are a relatively new, small group of people that believe in the existence of God, a historical Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives. We try to shed what religion is, and embrace a personal life experience with this triune God.

Wow, that’s a mouthful! So, what does it mean? Well, we believe in Jesus. We also don’t want to ‘play’ church or religion. We really want to have a spiritual experience knowing God personally. We also believe there are others like us: believers in the Christian faith that are still seeking what truth and meaning is. We long to get beyond a Sunday morning duty to a pretentious religion and onto a faith that is real to us, relevant to the culture we live in, and relational to those around them.

Our mission statement sums it up:

Bringing hope and purpose to our world by loving our community into relationship with God and leading them into being devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Life should be more like an apple instead of an orange. Oranges are segmented into church life, work life, school life, significant other life, married life, entertainment life. We aspire to be consistent with our beliefs and strive for integrity, regardless if we are with other believers, in the classroom, at work, or at a 10pm show at the Bottleneck on a Friday night seeing one of our favorite bands. We also desire to be diverse in age, cultural background, past religious and life experiences yet all seeking to be part of a body of believers (what a church really is) that always reaches out to bring others in.

We meet on Sunday morning at 11am generally at the South Park Recreation Center located at 1141 Massachusetts Street (map [1]). We also have mid-week groups that meet during the week.
