Every fifth Monday Vineyard Church in Lawrence serves a hot meal to guests of the Lawrence Community Shelter. Though the meals are genuinely appreciated by the recipients, the greatest benefit may be to those of us who participate in the giving.  Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35).  This is true because in the giving we fulfill our basic need to serve. 

Each of us wants to know that the things we do impact the world around us.  In this simple act of service we reach out to our community with the love of Jesus Christ and demonstrate the reality of the Kingdom of God.  This is part of what being a community and in community is all about.
